Empathie in Dystopie (2024)
multichannel performance with voice, tape, electronics, synthesizer
The improvisational performance Empathie in Dystopie aims to channel empathy through sound art. Using media formats such as graphic scores, texts, and sound sources, each member of the Böseblick ensemble contributes their own interpretation of what that could be. The performance features voices, instruments, and sound objects, unfolds in multi-channel environments, and integrates site-specific elements to enrich its acoustics and atmosphere.
Founded in 2021, Böseblick comprises Alessandra Eramo, Korhan Erel, Ariel Orah, and Kirsten Reese. Their electronic music blends melody and noise, addressing cultural appropriation, homeland, and community. They embrace ideas of postcolonialism and the post-migrant society, shaping a musical process with a collaborative vision. Responding to contemporary events, Böseblick’s practice reflects its members’ personal and collective experiences.
