On the Materiality of Inaudibility

Concerned with the materiality of inaudibility, the exhibition Often enough I tried language, often enough I tried song, but they didn’t hear you invites the listener to confront the medium of sound at its limits.

For this gathering, Nikita Dhawan and Pedro Oliveira will respond to certain propositions latent in the exhibition through the prism of their own work. Nikita’s thought draws on the politics of impossible speech, and Pedro’s practice dwells on the material intersections of listening and migration in Germany. A presentation by each speaker will be followed by a discussion with the audience.

Nikita Dhawan holds the chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the Technical University Dresden.

Pedro Oliveira is a sound artist and researcher. He holds a PhD from the Universität der Künste Berlin.
