Brandon LaBelle Meditation on X (a cosmic sense of life)

Multimedia installation, dimension variables, 2026

It moves, it is movement itself, the figure of X, that names without naming, that evades the logic of enclosure to figure waves of connection instead – X as that “unpronounceable instant” (Lispector) which opens onto a cosmic sense of life. Meditation on X stays-with X as a “music without melody” whose vibrations connect across inner and outer, from the deep roots to the aerial dimensions. By way of explorative conversations and choreographies developed collaboratively that take as their starting point a research into inner listening, to attend to that inner memorial that carries the story of the body, the work unfolds a process of discovery and attunement, to embody the body within the body, which is a body that recovers itself, that inhabits a poetic ecology of vitality. Meditation on X brings together audio-video materials, along with drawings, masks, diagrams and textiles, creating a vibrational assemblage. In addition, a number of workshops are organized, inviting participants into theoretical and material activity, to experiment with listening methodologies and ways of cultivating a cosmic sense of life.
