Workshop
The workshop explores different forms and scales of listening, beginning with inward attunement through a series of guided embodied exercises. Participants are invited into a space of emergence that allows for reconnection, regeneration, and shape-shifting, cultivating new ways of sensing, being, and relating through the practice of listening.
This is followed by partner exercises that extend and ground these newly cultivated capacities. Through the movement practice and cosmology of martial arts, approached with softness and slowness, we explore outward attunement through touch with the intention of understanding the forces of conflict—and how they may be gently neutralized through deep listening. The practice cultivates relaxed strength and sensitivity to movement, presence, and relational awareness.
During the movement exploration, we delve deeper into the poetic imagery of movement, suggesting the interconnectedness between the body and the cosmos. The practice invites an experience of planetary listening, where bodies, the earth, and the cosmos are understood as co-orbiting within a shared field of vibration.
( ether o ) Chia-Liang Lai is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in sculpture. Drawing on the concept of sculptural time, they work across a range of time-based media, including sound, video, performance, and installation. Their performance practice has evolved into an ongoing embodied research that extends into Reiki bodywork and holistic healing rooted in spiritual activism. Their work centers on sound and listening as methods for exploring embodied storytelling and worldbuilding. They were born and grew up in Taipei, currently live and work in Berlin.
