Lecture Performance
Dr. Roxanne will lead us through a lecture performance that begins at the border of Texas and Mexico in her birthplace, a ghost town, called Terlingua, Texas. Participants will be guided through a lineage of border town cosmologies, embodied and ecological, that are impacted by digital surviellance technologies and automated extraction.
Dr. Tiara Roxanne is a scholar and artist whose work examines digital technologies through an anticolonial, eco-feminist, and cyberfeminist lens. Their research critiques how digital technologies rely on the extraction of resources from Indigenous lands and examines how these infrastructures carry colonial legacies inscribed in land, bodies, and memory. Dr. Roxanne is a Guest Professor of Media Art at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG Karlsruhe) and is working toward a book project under contract with UC Press.
