With Condition(s), Tintin Patrone creates an idiosyncratic climate zone through a group of mock air conditioners made of plastic and mounted on the wall in various sizes. Inspired by commercially available units, they appear partly crude and improvised, partly functional. The installation explores the invisibility of infrastructure, power, and representation, and uses temperature as a metaphor for cultural climate. Air conditioners emerge not merely as technical devices regulating air, but as systems that shape access, atmosphere, and behavior. A soundtrack accompanies the work, moving from broken everyday machines to the sonic atmosphere of a Philippine mall and the rustling presence of cockroaches. Together, sound and sculpture evoke climates shaped by technology, labor, and memory. By exposing air conditioners as sculptural bodies, Patrone reveals systems of institutional control over space, perception, and interpretation. Between critique and comedy, Condition(s) invites a rethinking of the relationship between environment, technology, and the art world.
Tintin Patrone is a German-Filipino sound and performance artist based in Hamburg. Her work explores the relationships between music, sound, visuality, and experimental gesture, with a focus on how collective practices shape social relations and negotiate identity. She is particularly interested in the human conditions of technology and works with robots, artificial intelligence, and non-human performers to question notions of subjectivity, embodiment, and presence. Her projects combine artistic research, collaborative production, and performative situations that remain accessible, humorous, and physically grounded. Patrone studied at HFBK Hamburg and has been working internationally across performance, installation, and long-term re-search-based formats. As a musician she has performed at festivals like Skaņu Mežs (LV), Intonal (SE), Meakusma (BE), Unsafe&Sound (AT), Lacking Sound Fest (TW) and Les Digitales (CH).
